Real Lady Doll SS+ Makeup

Real Lady ------How We Do It

Based on Irontech Doll’s S-level makeup, we do not stop there but instead pursue a richer, more three-dimensional, outstanding, and layered SS-level realistic makeup. We capture every moment of expression on the doll’s face, making customers feel that from the first encounter with the doll, they have already found their lifelong companion. With hyper-realistic makeup showcasing feminine charm, our master makeup artists focus on the creation of the look, offering pure handmade customization to craft a lively face with soulful personality. For body coloring, we use ultra-wax figure-level craftsmanship, ensuring the body is realistic while radiating a unique feminine allure, creating a collectible-grade body makeup.

Today, let’s talk about how we do the makeup for our dolls. No exaggerated adjectives, no grand theories—just the real, down-to-earth work we do every day in the workshop.

1. Our Makeup Artists Are Not Hired Lightly

We handpick talent with over ten years of makeup experience from a pool of applicants. They possess the exceptional skills needed to recreate official designs with 90% accuracy, expertly replicate difficult makeup looks, and are skilled at using various face painting techniques and colors. They can finely detail hair, freckles, and other nuances, ensuring the makeup texture is outstanding. Their daily work is impeccable—low rework rate, high cooperation, a proactive learning attitude, and strong teamwork ability. They’re primarily responsible for high-difficulty makeup tasks, handling five heads per day.

2. Choosing the Right Fixative

To find the right fixative, the bosses personally visited 37 factories in Guangdong with head molds in hand.

The one we selected is 12 times more expensive than regular products but truly effective: it doesn’t reflect sunlight in the summer, won’t crack in the winter, and won’t come off when wiped with a wet tissue. Now, before every batch is shipped, the quality inspector wears cotton gloves and scrubs the doll’s face with force—not to abuse the product, but to ensure it won’t discolor.

3. Our Quality Control Is More Detailed Than You Think

Our quality control process might be more meticulous than you expect:

  • We change the doll’s hairstyle three times: slicked-back, wool curls, and bangs—to check if the hairline transition is smooth.
  • We take photos under different lighting in the studio: we once discovered that eyeshadow reflected in flash photography.

4. Manual Processes Where Machines Can’t Match

While many steps can be automated, we insist on doing a few essential ones by hand:

  • Eyebrows: Each hair is implanted one by one, taking three hours per pair (machines make them too neat).
  • Tear Trough Shadows: We use a 000 pen, thinner than a strand of hair, to create a natural, sunken look.
  • Eyelashes: Each lash’s angle is adjusted to avoid them sticking out like fans.

5. Meet Our Director, Lin

When it comes to overseeing Real Lady Doll makeup, we can’t leave out our technical director—Lin. She’s the one who constantly reminds everyone, “The devil is in the details,” managing every step from makeup to quality control.

Who is she?

A trained artist: Lin graduated from the Sculpture Department of the China Academy of Art and further studied at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia. But her practical experience is even more interesting: she’s organized art exhibitions, designed large sculptures for public squares, tattooed clients, taught kids to draw, and even modeled for Taobao—doing everything from close-ups of colored contact lenses to men’s fashion spreads. As she puts it, “These experiences taught me that beauty can be expressed differently on different platforms.”

What does she do every day?

At 7:30 AM, you’ll definitely find her in the workshop:

  • Inspecting lip lines with a magnifying glass with the QC team: “This line is 0.2mm wider than the standard template. Rework!”
  • Discussing lighting angles with the photography team: “This side light will reflect the eye makeup. Adjust the formula.”

Every Friday afternoon, without fail, she does three things:

  • User Review Meeting: She reviews over 200 user suggestions collected throughout the week, discussing each one.
  • Market Research: She works with the brand manager to track the most authentic user needs through major social media platforms.
  • Cross-Department QC: Testing the transparency of new eye designs under strong light and checking the gradient effect of the printed hairline.

7. Story Share from the Makeup Artist

I am a makeup artist, and this is my fifth year working at Irontech Doll. As usual, I arrive at my designated makeup room and receive a cleaned white blank head for the day’s work. I begin my creative process by first bringing the head into the independent foundation spray booth, where I select the appropriate foundation color according to our VIP clients’ custom requirements. Each doll requires four layers of foundation, with each spray layer having a precise stay time to ensure the foundation is solid, realistic, and three-dimensional. This process takes less than 2 minutes.

Next, I install the custom-selected eyes, which have been carefully chosen by the client (a detailed explanation of how these are made follows below), and a lively, expressive face of the doll is born.

This time, I was assigned a soft-head doll. Drawing the eyebrows takes 20 minutes to half an hour, while for a hard-head doll, the eyebrow implantation process takes about an hour. After completing the eyebrows, the next step is the most soulful part of the makeup—applying the eye makeup, which takes around 40 minutes. This is where the doll’s soul truly comes to life. There is a saying that beauty is in the nose, and spending 5 minutes shaping the nose’s three-dimensionality is essential.

If you think the lips are the simplest part, you might be surprised: 10 minutes of lip drawing, which involves not only the shape of the lip corners but also the three-dimensional lip lines, the shading of the pout… Contouring and blush are also indispensable, and I can complete them in 10 minutes to create a vibrant and healthy look for the doll’s face. Some clients prefer to add beauty spots or freckles on the doll, making them even more cute and playful—dolls can be beautiful too. After finishing all of this, it goes to Director Lin for quality inspection. As an experienced employee with exceptional skills, I’m, of course, confident. Director Lin approved my work.

Finally, I spray the doll’s makeup with a setting spray. This setting spray works very well, and I heard it was carefully selected by the boss from several suppliers. After spraying the first layer of setting spray, I place the doll’s head in a dedicated storage room to let it rest overnight. The next day, I apply the second and third layers of setting spray. Once the setting is complete, I add the eyelashes, and after three days, the SS-level makeup is finished.

8. The Birth of the Eyes

Material: The eyes are made from high molecular material—epoxy resin. Compared to traditional plastic, resin is safe, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and non-polluting. It is more durable and resistant to wear, aging, and yellowing or cracking. However, it has a higher cost and greater processing difficulty (it can only be made by hand).

Craftsmanship: The eyes undergo 9 intricate processes, all handcrafted, using detailed manual carving and coloring techniques. The steps include: adjusting the resin → pouring the mold → making the pupil base with polymer clay → positioning the pupil → carving the pupil lines → coloring → sealing the layers → adding the lens cap → sealing with glue.

Appearance: The eyes are made with top-tier custom craftsmanship, resulting in a transparent, expressive, and soulful look for the doll. They are versatile, with designs ranging from realistic human pupils to dreamy anime eyes. Any design, as long as there’s an image, can be highly replicated.

9. Why Choose Us?

It’s our relentless attention to detail that makes our products both finely crafted like art and reasonably priced. As Lin always says, “A good makeup look isn’t about the first stunning impression—it’s about feeling comfortable the more you look at it. Behind that comfort, every millimeter counts.”

This is the real process behind Real Lady Doll makeup. There’s no magic—just a group of ordinary people tirelessly experimenting and refining the details. As Lin says, “Make sure everything that needs to be done well is done right, and leave the rest to time.” We believe that’s what real refinement is all about.
